Hebrews 1 and John 1
Praise:
“Jesus, Our Prophet, Priest, and King” by Mary Rose Jensen
How could the Father tell of His love
When our hearts refused to hear?
In the body of man, God spoke His Word.
Jesus our Prophet makes it clear.
How could the Father welcome us home
When we were so full of sin?
In the body of man, God's Son was killed
Jesus our Priest now brings us in.
How could the Father rule over death
When we were condemned to die?
In the body of man, Christ rose again.
Jesus our King now reigns on high.
How could we ask for anything more
When God gives us everything?
We have all we could need when we have Christ
Jesus our Prophet, Priest and King.
Questions: From Heidelberg # 31
Q: 31 - “Why is he called Christ, that is, Anointed?
A: “Because he has been ordained by God the Father, and anointed with the Holy Spirit, to be our chief Prophet and Teacher, who has fully revealed to us the secret counsel and will of God concerning our redemption; our only High Priest, who by the one sacrifice of his body has redeemed us, and who continually intercedes for us before the Father; and our eternal King, who governs us by his Word and Spirit, and who defends and preserves us in the redemption obtained for us.
