Love you Eric

On Saturday 1/11/2025 our brother in the Lord Eric Karloski died. Eric had for many years been battling with great Christ-like humility against physical ailments. In recent years as Eric worked with us at RedeemingFamily he was one who delighted in prayer, conversation, and sharing the hope of heaven with others. Eric loved his wife, his local church, his neighbors, and his dog and cats. If Eric wasn't having a thoughtful conversation with someone, he was most likely reading, or thinking over a pipe or cigar about his next opportunity for a loving conversation.

During our last visit together in this life we parted with some simple words that we frequently shared. "Love you, Eric!" "Love you too, man!" he said with a tired smile. We grieve, and we do so with hope. Those who knew Eric miss him already. We look forward to the day when death is no more, all is made right, and we who have received the grace of God in Christ can dwell in the perfect light of love forever.

I don't know what a good pipe or cigar tastes like in eternity, but I'm hopeful of the day when Eric and I can again share good fellowship together. The forgiveness of our sins bringing the hope of resurrection is the best news we mere mortals could ever have.

Eric did a lot of work for RedeemingFamily mostly on themes in the book of Ecclesiastes. The last words of that book (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) come to mind in grieving Eric:

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
